For several years Clarkson & Woods have been monitoring a large number of ground mounted solar PV sites across the country. Our Solarview publication amalgamates our findings and looks for trends, pulling together insights and information which can be used by site operators, local authorities, ecologists, farmers as well as across the solar trade industry.
The Solarview report looks at how wildlife is affected by solar farms and explores how successful different approaches to managing them are. This can help to inform future impact assessments and can be useful in helping to develop management plans.
While not intended as an in depth study, the large amount of data that we gather provides us with an excellent opportunity to create an overview of how solar farms might be influencing biodiversity. We also hope that it will be help to enable management practices to be more effective and cost efficient.
