We regularly run in house training sessions to share knowledge between the team. Today was the turn of one of our resident bird experts Mike, to teach us all about surveying wintering birds, particularly farmland species. He had tips for identifying species of conservation concern and differentiating these from more common species that they can easily be confused with. We also considered the ways in which the survey methodology should be adapted for winter. We all love a quiz here at C&W, so got the chance to test our knowledge before heading out into the field to put into practice what we’d learned. To round the day off we visited Shapwick Heath nature reserve where we were treated to thousands of starlings murmurating
